The all American clash between Kenin and Collins could in truth go either way but the one previous match between these two played on clay went to Kenin. Collins is in Europe and is happy to accumulate some prize money but she is not a serious clay court player despite her beating Swiatek last week. Consistency is not her middle name. The manner she lost to Pegula and Svitolina suggest she is not capable of a deep run on clay. Kenin has been trending in the right direction this season and should come out on top:)

Kasatkina has a 3-0 H2H record against Raducanu and is playing on her favourite surface. Keep it simple and back the proven player.

DTM recommends

S.Kenin to beat D.Collins

D.Kasatkina to beat E.Raducanu

Sramkova is capable of some excellent tennis as demonstrated by her victory over Kessler last week and her demolition of Ostapenko in the first set. Putintseva has struggled so much that she dropped down a level to play in Parma to try and gain a few match wins. Unfortunately her exit to Sherif was mid match and provided further evidence she is still not in great shape. At the prices Sramkova is a value option and the type of player who will attack Yulia's weak serve.

DTM recommends

R.Sramkova to beat Y.Putintseva

The top half in Strasbourg is very loaded with players who one their day could win. Jessica Pegula is the number one seed who in truth is only playing to accumulate more match time on clay. If she had been more successful in recent weeks she would be having a rest in preparation for the French Open. DTM believes that this in itself speaks volumes for her chances. The same logic can be applied to virtually all the players in the top half. Players happy to use this week for match practice on clay because they have yet to find their feet on this surface with any consistency. DTM believes Sofia Kenin is arguably the most secure on the surface along with Daria Kasatkina. Since they meet in round 2 if they both win their first matches, DTM can see the winner from this section making the final. In the bottom half DTM likes Magda Linette to cause a surprise or two. The bottom half has very few clay court specialists so unless Barbora Krejcikova hits the season running after her long absence it is a wide open section. Hopefully the Pole can go deep this week:)

DTM recommends

Take on the seeded players as a general rule this week.

Sofia Kenin to win or make the final

Magda Linette each way

Daria Kasatkina to win Strasbourg
