Katie Boulter continues to struggle as Danilovic raced through the first set 6-0. The second set was closer but in truth the British player is really struggling at the moment to be competitive?
Taylor Townsend overcame a very frustrated Danielle Collins. This return was welcome as two other DTM tips came unstuck in close three setters. Both Parks and Stearns lost out to leave DTM followers only just in profit for this event:)
Maria Sakkari flattered to beat Paolini but despite a topsy turvy match both sets went to the Italian in tie breaks.
I am not sure Aryna Sabalenka will have enjoyed her win against Raducanu. Apart from the W the match was not one to remember for the world #1. Lots of errors and a woeful first serve % in set 2. At least her ability to win when the match reached the tie break was impressive. However the last tie break was decided in part by a poor forehand at 2-3. Raducanu somehow put an easy put away back on Sabalenka's racket who did the rest. This gave her a two point lead which was the difference by the end.
Iva Jovic suffered stage fright as she started the final set against Krejcikova. The opportunity to win arrived and she backed down. A good prospect but she's not ready to win at the top level yet. Muchova simply did not turn up and Gracheva looked both shocked and delighted at winning. Some days are just not meant to be. The American hard court season in preparation for the US Open is turning into a treading water period as results remain inconsistent and difficult to predict. It is almost as if many of the players are struggling to get going after their mid season break. I am sure by the time we get to New York players will be more consistent and normal service will resume.
Another comfortable win for Swiatek over Cirstea moves her into the last 8 to play Anna Kalinskaya who is showing renewed determination for a player not usually known for her fighting qualities. She came through a tough match with Alexandrova which should guarantee her a seeded spot at the US Open:) Meanwhile Veronika Kudermetova also came through a tough 3 set battle with Clara Tauson who once again showed she blows hot one week and cold the next. Still credit to Kudermetova who has risen back inside the top 40 having been in the doldrums for two years:)
Jasmine Paolini beating Barbora Krejcikova was achieved with he minimum of fuss. Sometimes a result seems so likely that you second guess yourself believing it too ago to be true. However the Italian was far too good for an injury prone Czech player whose career is possibly tailing off now. Ella Seidel will possibly learn to be more streetwise in the coming years. Having dominated the first set she struggled to manage herself in the heat and literally fell off a cliff from the 4th game of the second set. Many players would have pulled out but bizarrely she stayed on court to hit errors and double faults whilst clearly struggling with the soaring temperatures. Cincinnati is sadly becoming an event where the players that can manage the heat the best will do best.
Anyone who has watched Aryna Sabalenka this week will have seen a player slightly out of sorts. Clearly returning to court after a break she has looked rusty and not timing the ball cleanly. Elena Rybakina was always going to be a tough challenge in form, but trying to find her form was going to be a big ask. DTM spotted the opportunity and Rybakina delivered to start to make this week look much better in terms of profit :)
The quarter finals went all to plan as far as DTM was concerned. Great upturn in fortunes the longer the week goes in Cincinnati. Elena Rybakina is clearly trending in the right direction and is benefitting from her time on the match court. Sabalenka was trounced. Paolini is also playing well this week and as expected caused Gauff plenty of problems by keeping the ball in court. Kudermetova has gained a seeding at the US Open with her impressive run.
The semi final between Swiatek and Rybakina will determine the winner. Rybakina could blast another opponent off the court or Iga can consolidate her Wimbledon victory with another here, making her favourite for the last grand slam :)
Iga Świątek gave DTM another event winner comfortably taking the title in straight sets over Jasmine Paolini who at least has turned a corner with her form:) The odds for a player can be very similar to win these type of events as a grand slam. Clearly for Swiatek this week was much easier both in terms of winning less matches but also the number of form players she had to face. Always worth bearing that in mind when investing in a player to win an event. Iga goes to New York full of confidence :)
+5.91 points profit overall for this event
The early stages of Montreal have highlighted a much faster hard court than expected. Players who are serving well are already showing dominance and this may prove indicative as the event proceeds. Anna Blinova trounced an in form Caroline Dolehide. Marketa Vondrousova hung tough to out battle Alexandra Eala.
With Ashlyn Krueger losing a 4-1 second set by losing the last 5 games and Eala losing from a set up this week seems to be one of those difficult ones where players are playing very hot and cold even in the same match!
Ann Li v Anna Kalinskaya's match was a case in point. Li lost the first set 7-6 after no service breaks the entire set. Despite having a 6-4 tie break lead she lost the two set point chances and the next two points to lose the first set She then won the next 8 games to lead 2-0 in the final set. Kalinskaya had a medical timeout and was moving with a severely strapped up left leg. Despite this from 2-0 down she then won the next 5 games hardly losing a point and despite dropping the 5-2 game served out the match? Li had won 15 games, Kalinskaya had only won 12 games. Yet bizarrely she won the match:) Ito beating Paolini in another topsy turvy match highlighted how tricky Montreal is proving to be. Unlike most of the season so far DTM has been left a bit perplexed. At these kind of times the best approach is to sit back and just watch:)
DTM advice is to stick with Iga Swiatek and double up on her winning the event especially as Coco Gauff still looks shaky?
The bigger names duly won over Wednesday night to give DTM a tiny profit. Pegula looked strong as did Raducanu. It’s going to be a fun week ahead as the competition heats up. Even Marta Kostyuk’s form is looking up :)
Iga Świątek loss to Clara Tauson was a surprise as was Anisimova's tame defeat to Svitolina after looking so dominant against Raducanu. This has left DTM with a loss for the first time across a single event in a very very long time?
The last 8 saw normal service resumed with results aligning with DTM's thoughts. Rybakina and Mboko will play each other once again after they both won through to a semi final meeting with no fuss :)
Naomi Osaka finally has come good in a season which has failed to fire until this week. She comfortably beat Svitolina to set up a clash with the player of the vent so far in Clara Tauson. Given her emotions you can expect some serious action. in their semi final :)
Well done Vicky Mboko who took advantage of Rybakina's inability to close out a match to go on and win a first big final against Naomi Osaka. What an achievement for the young Canadian. A star is born :)
-2.22 points profit for this event
The run up to the US Open is underway in Washington DC. Jessica Pegula returns to action as the top seed. However DTM expects a few shocks this week on hard courts which are proving very bouncy. DTM likes Leylah Fernandez to do well and she duly opened up with a confident win against Maya Joint. Frech and Townsend both duly won their first round matches comfortably leaving Anna Kalinskaya to make it four out of four for DTM followers with her straight set win.
After Emma Raducanu's win against Kostyuk, DTM'r record remains perfect for Washington. The profit so far allows him to go for it with some outsiders in the next round. Both Leylah Fernandez and Maria Sakkari fit that bill. They are in form and playing the top 2 seeds thus ensuring excellent value. Both matches present a 50:50 match up but these two players are considered the significant outsider?
Cocciaretto lost in Prague despite her event good form. However Maria Sakkari is definitely back in terms of her confidence as is Anna Kalinskaya. Both are enjoying the Washington surface and a potential semi final match up looks very possible.
DTM has had an exceptional week so far in Washington. The draw is shaping up to bring us a Rybakina v Raducanu final. Whether that happens will depend very much on Sakkari v Raducanu. This promises to be a thriller especially if both players turn up and play with freedom rather than fear and doubt. Neither have got to a significant semi final for a long time. Nerves will play a part.
Meanwhile Leylah Fernandez beat Jessica Pegula which DTM predicted. Another player who loves the hard courts.
The last 8 saw 3 correct outcomes as Fernandez, Rybakina and Anna Kalinskaya all won. The last victory here for Anna Kalinskaya was a gift at 11/8. Her game was in far better shape than Tauson and she duly delivered a comfortable straight sets victory at generous odds which were cut to 10/11 by the start. The Sakkari v Raducanu match went exactly as DTM thought when it reached 6-4, 2-5. But unfortunately Sakkari had not read the script and managed to lose the last 5 games to prevent what looked likely to be a 3 set match until that rather curious demise at the end of the second set.
With just the semi finals to go the Rybakina and Raducanu each way suggestions at the start look really good now:) Fatal last words as bizarrely Rybakina lost from 7-6 and 5-3 up. Her 3 set defeat to Fernandez was a surprise from such a strong position in the match. Raducanu lost to Kalinskaya was less of a surprise as the Russian is capable of beating anyone on her day. This week has definitely been her week and she should take the title come Sunday night. So what looked certain to be an amazing week ended up with a sound profit. But as DTM knows sometimes when things are going too well the unlikely happens to bring you back to Earth :) Off to Canada now :)
+4.34 points overall on the week
It was a busy start to the Championships with DTM live at the grounds for the first 3 days. His observations of many of the players will help inform followers of the very latest form on the hallow turf of SW19.
Amanda Anisimova has won her first two matches comfortably and her section as DTM expected has really opened up. Early days but things are looking good for the American. Long may it continue:)
The bottom half has been obliterated by the end of the second round and Elena Rybakina holds all the aces now. Naomi Osaka has a great chance to finally go on a run of wins. Jessica Pegula's mysterious defeat in 58 minutes remains a mystery. Losing is not the issue, it was the manner of the defeat that left questions after her stellar performance the week before ? Only she can comment and that is not going to happen.
DTM got unlucky as Anna Kalinskaya was clearly unwell in her match with Tauson. Despite this, Kalinskaya threatened a comeback and had two set points in the second set tiebreak which sadly went awry 12-10. Kalinskaya is a great player who has the game to beat anyone but today she was at best 75% fit which made the difference. Samsonova and Collins duly delivered easy wins as we head onto the last 32 at this third slam of the year.
Aryna Sabalenka beat Emma Raducanu in a high quality match. It will take a good performance to beat the world #1. Anisimova still awaits in the top half much to DTM's relief. She is definitely here to go deep but nearly found a way to lose to Galfi. It was encouraging to see her care and adjust her game just enough to win in 3 sets. Let's go Amanda:)
With so many seeds out Iga Swiatek has reached the fourth round largely unnoticed. Her match against Danielle Collins was a non contest and now her opportunity to go deep at Wimbledon is very much on the cards. The top half sees Aryna take on her old doubles partner Elise Mertens who is playing well and could push Sabalenka on Sunday. Amanda Anisimova’s date with Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday in the semi final took another step closer. As both players came through tough 4th round battles:)
Aryna worked a lot harder than most thought she would to make a date in the semis with Anisimova:) Amanda has looked very good this year. Their semi final is going to be a cracker :)
Anisimova proved once again to be a great player on grass by overcoming Sabalenka. Iga Swiatek cruised pst Bencic in the bottom half. DTM followers have now been rewarded for their each way investment on Anisimova at 16/1 :)
The final was a disaster for Anisimova fans. She never turned up and unfortunately crumbled in front of a global audience. I am not sure if nerves and fatigue are the whole story especially as the odds on Swiatek shortened significantly in the last 12 hours. Someone knew there was something amiss with Anisimova who clearly felt pretty ropey in her warm up well before the final was started.
However the Championships have been very good for DTM with a healthy profit nonetheless.
+21.67 points overall for the two weeks
Round 1
Naomi Osaka lost a tough 3 setter against Paula Badosa who turned out to be in better condition than she appeared in Rome. Osaka played well enough to win as Badosa was gracious enough to admit but unfortunately for DTM followers that doesn't mean a lot. Cocciaretto was far too solid on clay for Taylor Townsend and at least this one went the right way. Jeanjean got the victory against Begu who should have won but as with Sakkari and Jabeur this week, has already shown a lack of confidence can become debilitating! Linette went close with Tauson but like Osaka lost a tight 3 setter. So after 4 matches a small profit but as has been the case for most of the season if DTM doesn't predict a winner, they get awfully close :) Sometimes a player confounds you with their strategy and approach to a match. How and why Solana Sierra played the way she did against Putintseva will remain a mystery but her all out aggressive style littered with numerous errors (mostly hitting the net!) is beyond reason. From 4-1 up she played right into Putintseva's hands who probably cannot believe her luck? She made a lot of balls and played a very good drop shot but the points she actually won were 85% from her opponents error count. Hitting aggressively with no margin over the net was a recipe for disaster. She needed to keep up the scoreboard pressure and not fall for Yulia's trap. Sadly she played like a junior in terms of her strategy ploughing on with trying to hit big winners from Yulia's heavy moonballs. A complete mystery and this was a match lost not won by the end! Carle came unstuck from 4-3 up in her match with Li again surrendering without a fight losing 9 games in a row!`Both these players seem to struggle with winning a main draw match having looked great in qualifying. Bizarre given their clay form?
Fortunately Bouzkova did prove too solid for Kalinskaya who hits an amazing ball and would have won under normal circumstances but her injury. However a useful return to cover the losses of the two disappointments above.
-0.02 points profit after Round 1
Round 2
As DTM thought all the big guns won their 2nd rounds with no issue. Sara Bejlek managed to dominate the first set 6-1 but for some reason then went on the attack and basically let her opponent back in before hitting more errors than you would think possible from an attritional style game. But as DTM blogs from last year highlighted the number of players that lose matches despite winning a set 6-1 is very high! Veronika Kidermetova was indeed a very good option as she defeated Barbora Krejcikova for the loss of only 3 games.
-0.24 points profit after Round 2
Round 3
DTM has successfully predicted the outcome of 11 third round matches. A lot of predictable outcomes with the higher seeds all winning or the form player or both:) However that's the nature of clay at a grand slam event. The cream rises to the top:)
+2.25 points profit after Round 3
Round 4
Elena Rybakina threatened to beat Iga Swiatek but from her point of view missed the boat when she let her lead slip in the second set. DTM isn;t very keen on Swiatek this year because her second serve in particular is so vulnerable. For a large part of the match today this was borne out again. Rybakina though blinked and let her high standards desert her on her own serve just as she looked destined to win. Elsewhere Zheng and Sabalenka won close matches but when push came to shove showed their class as their opponents both faltered. Coco Gauff and Madison Keys won their respective round 4 matches in straight sets to secure a quarter final meeting. Mirra Andreeva also won in straight sets to play the French surprise in Boisson who overcame a tortured Pegula. If ever a player needed to watch her match back then Jessica Pegula does. So tentative compared with the other women at the top of the game. Just play positively when you are on top please Jess:)
+3.16 points profit after Round 4
Quarter Finals
Aryna Sabalenka can play the drop shot. Qinwen Zheng can get to the drop shot because of her excellent movement but then disaster. Zheng loops the ball long every time. Her ability to adjust her grip is non existent. Saablenka wins virtually every point in this position even though Zheng has bossed the point and got to the drop shot! It was such a glaring difference between the two players that DTM has to question the validity of the coaching team? What on earth have they been doing for the last year in preparation for the clay season? Sabalenka has added this shot to her repertoire but Zheng looked all at sea! The match came down to 3 double faults and an inability to play or retrieve the drop shot! Disappointing because at 4-2 up Zheng was winning the match and just needed to keep Sabalenka in that state of doubt. Whether it is trying to win for China and 1.5 billion people or whether it is just an ability to handle pressure, Zheng was exposed today! E.Svitolina exposed Iga Swiatek for a while in the second set but by then she was already being the 8 ball having lost the first set 6-1. AT 5-4 up in the second set she had 30 all and then deuce but once she put a second serve return into the net the match was gone. DTM still doesn't;t believe Iga will win this event as she is still to face a winning mentality at the highest level. Aryna Sabalenka and then Gauff/Andreeva will be a different proposition:)
Madison Keys will be kicking herself having hit 60 unforced errors. Coco Gauff was struggling big time and yet still managed to hang in long enough to get a victory which neither player deserved given the 101 combined unforced errors. Mirra Andreeva also managed to play inexplicably badly from 5-3 up in set 1 and 3-0 up in set 2. Young shoulders that got upset by the partisan crowd. She will learn. I suspect Coco Gauff will be better prepared at beating the home player and the home crowd in the semi final:)
Semi Finals
Aryna Sabalenka looked incredibly strong for most of the first and third sets and could easily have won more convincingly. Iga has played better than recent months but that was not particularly difficult. Even though she won the second set, you never felt she was going to win. Coco GAuff managed to stay on top of Lois Boisson unlike her peers in the previous rounds. This was a straight forward victory:)
+2.74 points overall after the semi finals
Final
The weather provided DTM with the perfect conditions as it was not hot and sunny but instead windy and cool. This suited Gauff a lot more than Sabalenka who unfortunately made 70 unforced errors in the final. This was ultimately the determining factor as Gauff only made 30:) With Coco Gauff winning the final and in 3 sets nothing DTM's tips were realised. In addition DTM had highlighted Coco as the likeliest winner at 6/1 before a ball was hit. Another profitable event and a great overall tournament for DTM followers:)
+9.29 points overall for the French Open
Day 1
Rebecca Sramkova got the week off to a perfect start, demolishing Yulia Putintseva 6-0, 6-4. Every so often the prices offered are wrong. 7/4 was extremely generous based on 2025 form. Putintseva is really struggling so DTM was no surprised by the ease with which the result went to Sramkova.
+1.75 points profit
Day 2
Magda Linette looked very solid in beating Krejcikova who after a long layoff was duly rusty. The Kenin match with Collins and the Kalinskaya match with Dolehide both went to 3 sets as DTM predicted:) A good day at the office for his followers:)
+2.63 points profit (+4.38 points profit overall)
Day 3
Magda Linette proved too solid for Sramkova despite some flashes of brilliance. Linette looks good for a deep run. Now where have I heard that ? Oh yes from DTM at the start of the event:) Elena Rybakina took no time at all to beat Wang in straight sets. Could this be the beginning of a return to winning ways? The Linette match will tell us more :)
+0.98 points profit (+5.36 points profit overall)
Day 4
Beatrix Haddad Maia finally converted her 4th match point to defeat Ashlyn Krueger in straight sets. Another good prediction by DTM:)
+1.38 points profit (+6.74 points overall)
Day 5
Maya Joint is clearly a young star going places. Possibly the best option of the year so far as she was a standout favourite to beat Ann Li. the prices for this match were wrong which only helped make the straight sets victory even sweeter:) Emma Navarro was the fourth time in as many weeks where a player DTM selected managed to claw defeat from the jaws of victory. It would be nice if this kind of result was reflected the other way sometimes but recently it has all been one way traffic. This time Navaroo managed to capitulate from a set and 6-5 up, serving for the win to tamely lose in 3 sets. DTM"s win % would be much better without the 4 recent losses from match game winning positions. He looks forward to some wins from losing positions to even up this trend:)
L.Samsonova nearly contrived to take the final set to a dramatic conclusion having lost a 5-2 lead and match points. But fortunately to save DTM from writing another blog on why so many women lose from match point up, she managed to find her game at 5-4 to convert the match her way:) Badosa was not match fit and was blowing hard. It will one a surprise if she can find the fitness required to give Osaka a match in round 1 of the French. Definitely noted for next week :)
+2.85 points (+9.59 points overall)
Day 6
Elena Rybakina took 3 sets to overcome Hdddad Maia but in truth never looked threatened. It will be interesting to see if she can dominate the final and win a title tomorrow. This surely will begin to make her feel a bit better and give her some confidence to take into the French Open. Danielle Collins looked tired in her defeat to Samsonova. Whilst the Russian continued to play good tennis, Collins level dropped the longer the match went on. This match confirms that Collins is now very much a danger in a one off match but she hasn't the stamina or fitness to play consistently well for a whole event. Last she was riding a crest of a wave in a lap of honour kind of way but this year her form continues to be inconsistent.
-0.7 points (+8.89 points overall)
Day 7
Elena is back on the inning trail! A first title for 13 months. Well done her and well done DTM for another profitable week.
+0.33 points (+9.22 points overall)
Sofia Kenin to win or make the final Lost -1
Magda Linette each way Lost -1
Daria Kasatkina to win Strasbourg lost -1
+6.22 points profit overall across the week
Aryna Sabalenka to win the event @10/3 WON
Day 1
All three of DTM's predictions for Tuesday won which was the perfect start for DTM followers. The trixie gave you just over 14 points profit in addition to the 2.76 points profit for the 3 individual matches:) What a great start to the week and one that puts the 2025 orbit over 216 points profit overall!
+16.88 points profit
Day 2
Jana Fett had 7 break points but from 3-1 up she was unable to convert the last 6 break point chances and lost 5 consecutive deuce service games of her opponent despite having game point chances in every single one! Pera served well on break point and had the benefit of a lefty serve to the advantage box. However it was just one of those days and Fett could simply not take advantage of her chances. Cristian meanwhile got upset early on against Kartal challenging line calls made electronically. This distraction was unnecessary and damaged her chances of a good start. This match also had 5 deuce games but Cristian only won 1 of them ! Tennis is certainly decided by the big points. Today the two fancied players managed to only win about 17% :)
-2 points (+14.88 points profit overall this week)
Day 3
After an amazing first day in Madrid DTM pushed the boat out today with his 3 suggestions. All outsiders but with proven clay court form it was no surprise that each match had a closely fought first set. Unfortunately the weather in Madrid has been hot and still and the seeded players competed well to take the first sets 7-6, 7-5 and 6-4 :) The second sets went the same way so a poor day overall. Worst still was the withdrawal of Karolina Muchova who is clearly not 100% fit yet.
-3 points (+11.88 points profit overall this week)
Day 4
It was a case of three straight set wins on Friday. Sakkari overcame Linette and Masarova beat a woefully out of form Putintseva but unfortunately Danilovic could not convert a 4-0 second set lead and instead tamely lost the last 6 games to lose to Alexandrova! 2 out of 3 successful outcomes to provide a profit on the day is still a good day overall though:)
+1.3 points profit (+13.38 points profit overall)
Day 5
I am not sure Anna Kalinskaya could have come much closer to taking her match with Keys to 3 sets. 5-4 up in the first set only to lose it followed by recovering from 5-3 down in the second set only to lose the tie break! Not a very lucky day when all the close moments go one way!
-2 points profit (+11.38 points profit overall)
Day 6
Marta Kostyuk went storming ahead 6-0, 3-1 against Kudermetova only to be pulled back to 4-4 all in the final set. Fortunately she got over the line despite the outcome being a lot closer than it should have been. Bizarrely Sofia Kenin also dominated her match for the first set and a half only to let Potapova back into the match. I am not sure Kenin is reliable enough to back anymore after watching the way she hit four consecutive second serve returns out of court to lose set 2. After seeing her capitulate to Pegula as well in Charleston, her attitude on court is seriously questionable at times. The final set never felt like it would go to the American as a result despite her leading and ultimately having two match points. Potapova won the last four points to win a match she never should have won! DTM has very little to say and if Sofia Kenin's coach is reading this, I wish them well because it cannot be an easy job giving feedback on Kenin's last two defeats. DTM has put Kenin on his leave alone list for the time being as she has to address her mental attitude on court. It is seriously limiting her ability to win matches at present.
-0.2 points profit (+11.18 points profit overall)
Day 7
Donna Vekic had an off day and lost quickly without her blistering groundstrokes on show. Marta Kostyuk however looked really impressive in thrashing Potapova and renewed DTM's faith that she is about to move up a level with her performance against Aryna Sabalenka to come:)
0 points profit (+11.18 points profit overall)
Day 8
After an unusual first set which Coco Gauff dominated only to look like losing, the final outcome was indeed as DTM predicted a straight sets win for Gauff. Andreeva has progressed really well on hard courts but her clay form is patchy and with Gauff trending in the right direction again this was indeed a good thing:) And so it proved. Much to DTM's delight. After a few unlucky recent results including Kenin's loss from match points up, this was a confirmation that DTM shouldn't doubt himself. Form is temporary, class is permanent :)
+3.4 points profit (+14.58 points profit overall)
Day 9
The semi finals proved to be quite one sided in the end. Coco Gauff highlighted Iga Swiatek's mental fragility once again. She is clearly not in a happy place with her tennis and as DTM suspected Gauff is on a roll and gaining momentum with ever y win. Svitolina like Kostyuk had the baseline game to match Sabalenka for long periods but her serve is simply too vulnerable. Like Kostyuk her second serve was cannon fodder and Sabalenka could afford to lose lots of games without ever looking likely to lose, simply because she could break at will.
-2 points profit (+12.58 points profit overall)
Day 10
DTM highlighted the value that Kalinskaya and Cirstea were to win their semi finals in the doubles against Ostapenko and Heish. What a great result at 12/5 :)
+2.4 points profit (+14.98 points profit overall)
Day 11
Aryna Sabalenka confirmed DTM's original faith by winning the final. Gauff in truth should have taken the match to a final set but as she reached set point in the second set all her serving demons returned to gift Sabalenka a close second set with numerous double faults and poor misses. The cover investment went west but the profit from Sabalenka meant another seriously profitable week :)
+2.33 points profit (+17.31 points profit overall)
Day 12
The doubles final saw another match with numerous set points come and go as DTM's tip lost the first set after giving up 4 set points. Despite dominating the entire match the result finally went the way of Kalinskaya and Cirstea 12-10 in the match tie break. Another 2 points profit to end a very profitable week.
+2 points profit
+19.31 points profit for Madrid overall
Aryna Sabalenka to win Stuttgart @ 3/1 Lost
Elina Svitolina to win Rouen @ 10/3 Won
Day 1
Veronika Kudermetova duly went 3 sets with Diana Shnaider. Unfortunately from a winning position at 3-1 up in the final set, Veronika lost her way and ended up losing the last 5 games in a row. Unusually the 3 of the last 4 matches DTM has highlighted has seen a player lose the last 5 games of the match, including the last two games with a rush of losing points as if the player had mentally conceded the match well before the end! Kudermetova joins Collins in a category of being very prone to letting a match go mentally rather than battling for every point until the end!
The insurance of backing a 3 set match left DTM followers with a small profit after day 1.
+0.2 points profit
Day 2
Jana Fett was a determined winner against Donna Vekic. DTM will have delighted his followers with this 3/1 value winner :) After a slow start Jana Fett actually won two close sets to win more comfortably than DTM expected. However a 3/1 winner is a rare occurrence so should be savoured.
The 3 set match went west but still a profitable day:) Interestingly the Ostapenko match did indeed prove interesting with a mid match retirement. Someone, somewhere knew before hand that something was amiss. In the end it was not Ostapenko but Yatremska that had the issue.
+3 points profit (+2.2 points profit overall)
Day 3
Elise Mertens continues to play well and was generally far too good for Diana Shnaider. The new Yonex racket is giving Mertens more power and this showed especially on serve. Despite a wobble at 5-3 up in the second set, Mertens claimed a nervy tie break and sealed the win.
+0.72 points profit (+2.92 points profit overall)
Day 4
J.Bouzas-Maneiro played a great match to beat V.Gracheva and put a dent in DTM's profits this week. Still with Svitolina comfortably beating Kalinina the hope remains that Rouen will prove to be a happy hunting ground in addition to the action in Stuttgart:)
-1 (+1.92 points profit this week)
Finals weekend
E.Svitolina defeated O.Danilovic in straight sets in the WTA Rouen final to secure the title. The 10/3 odds to win the title at the start of the week was as DTM advised very generous. Svitolina was indeed focused on winning a title in her husband's home country and so it proved:) This profit helped to cover the losses from Alexandrova losing in Stuttgart to Ostapenko. Fortunately Aryna Sabalenka made it through to the final and looks likely tomorrow to secure another event win for DTM at 3/1:) Another profitable week looks secure for DTM followers:) Sadly Aryna was undone by an inspired Ostapenko in Monday's final. Indoor conditions suit the Latvian especially when she gets her confidence up. Sabalenka could not find a way back after a slow start.
-1 (+0.92 points profit across the week)
Aryna Sabalenka to win Miami is a good option given the odds of 11/4 :) Won
After an interesting match with Mirra Andreeva DTM sees no reason why Sabalenka would not reverse the result in the future. DTM believes she throw the match away because of a lack of patience and trying to dominate set 2 and set 3 in a similar fashion to set 1. Andreeva's game improved and she worked out she could just defend forcefully and ultimately gain enough points from Sabalenka's mistakes. With no obvious dangers in the top half Sabalenka should build enough winning momentum to put her into the final with a great shot at the title once again :)
Qualifying Rounds
Jodie Burrage was a set and 4-1 up but unfortunately failed to convert set 2 and therefore the match. After dropping the second set she retired and therefore the result was VOIDED and any investment returned.
DTM was quick to see the value in backing Taylor Townsend to beat a tired Kartal. After a long struggle the result finally went the American‘s way.
+1.25 points profit after qualifying
Round 1
Alycia Parks went from zero to hero in recovering from match point down to beat Gracheva and save DTM's blushes :) Always nice when a recovery result goes your way:) In truth from 5-2 down in the second set the American dominated the match and her expected power did indeed overpower Gracheva by the end :)
Bronzetti easily dispatched Bouzas Maneiro and the impressive qualifier Linda Fruhvirtova beat Liu.
DTM had his 4th winner as the day drew to a close in Miami when Taylor Townsend came through another 3 set battle to defeat Li. Quite the day with 3 long matches all going the right way for DTM followers.
+3.5 points profit (+4.75 overall)
Unfortunately Suzan Lamens lost most of the deuce games that dominated the match. Her opponent’s first six of seven service games went to deuce but the Dutch player contrived to lose all bar one of her numerous break point chances. Thus losing a match she probably felt she could have won. Victoria Azarenka didn’t have a problem with big points as she won easily against a very out of form Kalinina.
-0.56 points (+4.19 points overall)
If you placed the Yankee as advised then the additional profit here was another +7.54 points :) +11.73 points overall
Round 2
Magda Linette started Thursday with a straight sets defeat of Ekaterina Alexandrova, exactly as DTM forecasted. A 5.75 point profit from this one match is an amazing return as DTM made the Polish player favourite yet the bookies bizarrely didn’t:) Their mistake is all benefiting Alzheimer’s :) The end of the day saw another close 3 set match between Bronzetti and Sakkari. This match could definitely have gone either way in a tense encounter. Unfortunately the crucial deuce games went to the Greek towards the end and Bronzetti will be ruing her break point chance to go 3-1 up after which she was always playing catch up !
+3.75 points (+15.48 points overall)
Anna Kalinskaya proved DTM right once again as she turned up and as a result her hard court game was far too good for Uchijima. Later on Kessler came through a dramatic final set shootout to give the K’s a great winning day. As for DTM that’s 10 out of the last 12 winners :)
+ 2.28 points profit (+17.76 points overall)
Round 3
Coco Gauff duly dispatched Sakkari in straight sets for one of the easier wins of DTM’s predictions. Elise Mertens pushed Iga Swiatek for long periods of the first set but unfortunately could not quite recover from 5-2 down to win the first set. After nearly 75 minutes losing the set 7-6 led to her losing the second set quite quickly in comparison. On another day with a more secure start the match would have more than likely gone to the 3 sets DTM predicted but not this time :)
- 0.33 points (+17.43 overall)
Last 16 and remainder of the tournament
Emma Raducanu to reach the final and first off to beat Amanda Anisimova is DTM's remaining interest in this event. With over 17 points profit from Miami the worst case scenario is a 14 point profit. DTM has already highlighted Aryna Sabalenka as the most likely winner in Miami and with the addition of Raducanu to make the final both halves of the draw are covered. After Miami the tour begins to move towards the clay court season. How much profit will BHT have by then ?
+1.5 points profit (+18.93 overall)
Radcanu duly beat Anisimova but then failed to find a way in a close encounter with Pegula. Iga’s winning formula has definitely dried up and if there is no encouragement before Paris a new clay Queen could be crowned. Will Aryna claim the crown this weekend? DTM believes so :)
-2 points for Raducanu each way but +2.75 points profit for Aryna Sabalenka winning Miami :)
+0.75 points profit on event investments
+19.67 points profit overall for Miami
Qualifying Round 2
DTM returned to action with a strong selection in qualification. This match up will also help confirm if the surface at Indian Wells remains slow enough to favour the clay court/less powerful players?
M.Carle to beat D.Saville
Maria Carle thrashed Saville 6-2, 6-1 to endorse the view that slower conditions remain despite the new court surface :)
0.83 points profit after qualifying
Round 1
Slow court specialists were undone which confirmed no real bias either way this year at a new look Indian Wells. Play well and you win, play poorly and you’ll lose.
Both Carle and Volynets lost in round 1.
-2 points (-1.17 points overall)
Bouncebackability :) Sorana Cirstea & L.Bronzetti both won on Thursday to provide a 1.74 combined profit.
+0.57 points profit overall after 3 days
Katerina Siniakova duly dispatched an out of form Putintseva easily to provide a small profit for DTM followers. Unfortunately Begu could not convert a winning position and allowed Katie Boulter back into a match to go on and win. Boulter has the bigger game but for a while her rustiness showed but just not quite long enough:)
+0.2 points profit (0.77 points profit overall)
Belinda Bencic came through in 3 sets to ensure further profit for DTM followers:)
+0.67 points profit (1.44 points profit overall)
The last 16 saw two awful losses from Rybakina and Kostyuk which has left DTM facing a negative balance for an event for the first time this season !
-2 points (-0.56 points overall)
BelInca Bencic proved yet again that winning is a habit and Coco Gauff has currently not got that habit ! A positive result for DTM.
+1.1 (+0.54 overall)
DTM had a wonderful Wednesday as Samsonova not only beat Paolini but did so 2 sets to 0 which means a great profit on the day. With the event investment on Rybakina still to come off on Saturday, this result guarantees a profit yet again on the week.
+3.16 (+3.70 overall)
The title match between Sabalenka and Andreeva means DTM's two suggestions for the title went west. Elena Rybakina has flattered to find her best form only for her mental frailties to return mid tournament. Iga Swiatek dominated the second set against Andreeva but when the heat was on at the end of sets 1 and 3 her serve was simply too vulnerable against the consistent and confident hitting of Andreeva. It will be interesting to see if Iga can retain her title on clay because this event really suited her given the conditions but she still couldn't convert. Miami will not be any different.
-3 (+0.70 overall)
So after a mixed week DTM is grateful to take away a 0.7 points profit from a week which could have been a lot worse:)
Day one saw DTM‘s first two selections both win. Noskova duly dispatched Putintseva and Samsonova was even more impressive in thrashing Pavlyuchenkov.
1.35 points profit (after day 1)
Day two saw DTM’s other two recommendations both win giving him a 100% win record through two days. A Yankee would have seen a 32 points profit :)
2.7 points profit (after day 2) backing singles only or 32 points profit if you combined all 4 results :)
Samsonova lost to Pegula who played well so just a bad day which happens.
1.7 points profit (after day 3)
Sofia Kenin defeated Paolini comfortably which gave a 1.5 point profit which was important as surprisingly Belinda Bencic was beaten in 3 sets by a rejuvenated Navarro. Although the first set was crucial and one the Swiss player should have won.
2.2 points profit (after day 4)
Mirra Andreeva completed a convincing win over world #2 Iga Swiatek and provide DTM with another winner. This indeed feels like a breakthrough win :)
4.2 points profit (after day 5)
Wow what a week this is turning out to be for Mirra Andreeva :) DTM’s suggestion at the start of the week has made the final :) What a breakthrough week but for DTM it continues to be an amazing year :)
5.2 points profit (after day 6)
With Mirra Andreeva first reaching the final and then winning Dubai, DTMs tournament predictions have yet again paid dividends:) Belinda Bencic lost which took a couple of points from the week’s profit but this hardly matters given the impressive profit in total from Dubai :)
- 2 points for Bencic exit
+ 30 points profit for Mirra Andreeva winning the final.
Total profit for the week = 33.2 points profit :)
DTM started the year with a blockbuster of a result predicting Madison Keys would win her quarter and then reach the final and then ultimately win !
9/2 to win her quarter
33-1 to reach the final
66-1 to win the event
103.5 point profit:)
Even allowing for Cooc Gauff‘s exit from the other half, 2025 could not have started any better:)
- 1 point
102.5 points profit for the week
