WTA Hong Kong Open Oct 27th to Nov 2nd

Finals weekend

In theory whoever wins the second semi final should go on and win the event. DTM is expecting Victoria Mboko to be a touch fresher and have the better serve to edge her battle with Leylah Fernandez. Her comfortable quarter final match will also help her to be fresh for this crucial match in Hong Kong.

DTM recommends

V.Mboko to beat L.Fernandez

Anna Kalinskaya then possibly Leylah Fernandez is no easy task given the top names are absent at this WTA 250 level. However Mboko's serve means she will have a good shot at making the final given both opponents are not that reliable on serve. Back Mboko to meet Fernandez in the semi finals.

DTM recommends

L.Fernandez to beat S.Cirstea

V.Mboko to beat A.Kalinskaya

Finals weekend

Round 2

Anna Kalinskaya is capable of a run of wins and Hong Kong could be the event. She is certainly hitting the ball well enough. She should take care of Shuai Zhang. Vicky Mboko overcame a tough first round match so hopefully she will unleash her game on Eala whose serve will come under serious threat in this match up.

DTM recommends

A.Kalinskaya to beat S.Zhang

V.Mboko to beat A.Eala

However DTM believes Lys has a great shot at a victory here:) Her tennis has been very strong especially her defeat of Rybakina in Beijing. Fernandez may well be ready for a rest so hopefully the German will reward DTM followers:) Elsewhere the Spaniard Cristina Bucsa will have too much for Arango.

DTM recommends

E.Lys to beat L.Fernandez

C.Bucsa to beat E.Arango

A lot of the first round match ups have a clear favourite and appear rather one sided. Vicky Mboko has been cut from 14/1 to 8/1 already so those who took DTM's advice on Saturday will be happy. Her first round match looks straight forward enough:) It will also be in straight sets. Yesterday's results saw no real shocks so don;t forget to

Belinda Bencic is the #1 seed but may pull out if she wins the final in Tokyo ? Leylah Fernandez is the #2 seed. She has also played a lot of tennis and may well struggle to go deep one more time. A more likely threat in the bottom half is Vicky Mboko. Having had a poor run she has stormed back to form last week pushing Elena Rybakina as close as anyone. Her win against Eva Lys was possibly even more impressive. If the same player turns up she will be the most likely winner.

DTM recommends

V.Mboko to win
