Sofia Kenin is a player you have to catch right. Her temperament is often her biggest weakness and far too often she lets herself down in matches by dropping her head and basically sulking. Whether she has heard this from her coaches is irrelevant because with a better mood and attitude in close matches her ranking and results would have been much better. However her hard court pedigree is far superior to Laura Siegemund. Kenin also has a 3-0 H2H record over the German and comes into this period of the season needing a few wins. She did this last Autumn in Tokyo so DTM expects her to be on it from match 1 today. S.Lamens is a solid player on hard court and will have gained confidence from her match with Iga Swiaek in America recently. She has the nous and experience to wait for Maria's slices to get shorter and shorter before knocking off the winners. Patience is the key and not trying to hit winners too soon against Maria who continues to receive gifts from opponents who don't know how to tactically defeat her. Lamens has beaten her before and will do so again this week:)

Last autumn the American started to show her true potential with some notable victories. However in recent months her game has become vulnerable with too many big shots missing. This is a tough match to call but one which could go either way. A very interesting encounter indeed:) Emma Raducanu has a tough match first up against a French player who has been trending upwards. She will have to win this type of match if she is going to get into the top 32 seeds for the next grand slam.

Iga Swiatek returns to acton after her early exit at the US Open. She is the #1 seed with Alexandrova seeded #2 and Clara Tauson #3 seed. The top half looks very loaded in comparison so Iga will have to work hard to make it through to the final:)
It is difficult to look beyond Swiatek in terms of a winner for the event but there is simply no value backing her this week :)
