However all other results went DTM's way including an impressive 3 set result in the last match between Lamens and Shnaider. All in all the last 5 days have seen DTM predict 7 out of 8 matches correctly. Another very very good week for DTM followers. With Leylah Fernandez still in the event another win for her will lead to a second consecutive week of DTM predicting the event finalist if not winner. Fernandez is a good option top beat the #1 seed in the semi final and if she does can expect to play Katie Boulter in the final. The potential of a Canadian victory to round off the Asian swing looks eminently possible. This would be a great way to lead us into the WTA finals in Riyadh.
DTM recommends
Katie Boulter to beat Y.Yuan
Leylah Fernandez to beat D.Shnaider
Leylah Fernandez to win the whole event as predicted each way by DTM at the outset :)
DTM found another winner yesterday which has made it 4 in a row and a 100% record. Sofia Kenin and Leylah Fernandez remain on course to meet in Sunday's final and live up to the predictions made at the start of the week on backhand tips.com :)
Quarter final Friday looks like a day for the seeds to progress.

Suzan Lamens v D.Shnaider is the one match up that could potentially be closer? Consider backing a 3 set result in this match even though Shnaider may still sneak the win.

With a few of the top seeded players all going deep in Tokyo, fatigue could be a factor. Certainly one or two surprises will be likely by the end of the week as the thought of a holiday and a rest loom large. Look for players who are not running on fumes, who also need ranking points. Sofia Kenin has to be a serious option given her position in the draw and the form shown in Tokyo. In theory she should make the final at least. Leylah Fernandez is in good form and blit the second set off Qinwen Zheng last week in the quarter finals. Inconsistent but brillian, Fernandez could be the most likely to make the final from the top half. Shnaider is a good player but has not had much rest recently ?
DTM recommends
Sofia Kenin to win Hong Kong Open
Leylah Fernandez each way
The main draw for the final significant tour event of the season at 250 level takes place in Hong Kong to complete the Asian swing. After this week we will have the WTA tour finals in Riyadh and then for most players the off season for a well earned rest :)
Diana Shnaider is the top seed with Katie Boulter seeded 2. Sofia Kenin is due to play as well as Simona Halep.
