Wuhan Open October 6th to 12th

Jessica Pegula has defied all logic by continuing to win matches from losing positions, now securing 7 3 set victories in a row. Aryna Sabalenka should by all accounts have won their semi final but somehow Pegula found yet more strength of reserves to take the victory. Meanwhile Coco Gauff has limped past opponents with not even half a serve. Jasmine Paolini ultimately ran out of gas but at no point during this event could you say Coco is back to her grand slam winning form. Jessica Pegula is the stand out choice to win the final. At the odds it is bizarre Coco is the favourite. Jessica Pegula has not gone through this event to blow up in the final. DTM expects a comfortable victory for the player who is in the best form. Jessica Pegula should win:)

DTM recommends

J.Pegula to beat C.Gauff

Jessica Pegula must be running on fumes. Her wins against Baptiste and then Alexandrova were both remarkable as she won from losing positions. This has been a theme for the American who has developed a lot more resilience from behind in recent weeks :) Her match with Katerina SIniakova is interesting because it is the type of match that she might lose at this stage of the season. However having won her past six matches all in 3 sets she is unlikely to give up easily? Siniakova is capable of an upset but DTM believes Sabalenka and Pegula are destined for another semi final clash:)

DTM recommends

A.Sabalenka to beat E.Rybakina

J.Pegula to beat K.Siniakova

A few retirements have shaken up this event already. With the heat and illness to boot it’s a bit of a lottery to know who is best placed to stay the distance. Aryna Sabalenka returns fresh and is likely to make her presence felt. Samsonova is another reasonably fresh player who has the game to dispatch an out of form Sofia Kenin. Maya Joint is also a player to keep on the right side of and she should beat Siniakova :)

DTM recommends

A.Sabalenka to beat R.Sramkova

L.Samsonova to beat S.Kenin

M.Joint to beat K.Siniakova

Leylah Fernandez against Naomi Osaka is the standout match. DTM makes this a 50:50 match. At the odds the Canadian is the value play. A 3 set outcome is the safe alternative.

Again at the odds Jelena Ostapenko is tempting against Cirstea because of her 4:1 winning H2H record.

DTM recommends

L.Fernandez to beat N.Osaka

Match to be 3 sets

J.Ostapenko to beat S.Cirstea VOID

Marie Bouzkova will continue her good form by beating Camilla Osorio in the first round. Katerina Siniakova is a good option to beat an out of form Diana Shnaider. Antonia Ruzic could well beat Magda Linette who seemingly is heading towards retirement.

DTM recommends

M.Bouzkova to beat C.Osorio

K.Siniakova to beat D.Shnaider

A.Ruzic to beat M.Linette

Main Draw

2nd round

1st round

Aryna Sabalenka returns to action as the #1 seed. Iga Swiatek is the #2 seed in a very loaded event. Neither half is easy and it will be interesting to see how Amanda Anisimova and Linda Noskova get on after their efforts in Beijing. DTM advice is to watch at this time of year as so many end of season issues existing that are likely to contribute to some surprise.
