Linda Noskova has an excellent record on grass. She has also looked very good this week in Berlin having come in fresh after two weeks off. DTM considers Noskova to be a dark horse for both here and Wimbledon. The world #12 is definitely a threat to anyone on this surface.
DTM recommends
L.Noskova to beat A.Eala
Final
L.Noskova to beat J.Pegula
Elena Rybakina will be better this week and should make a good bid for the title. She will overcome an improving Alex Eala who will find the challenge too much. Linda Noskova has to beat Parry given the surface and the Czech Republic's pedigree.
DTM recommends
E.Rybakina to beat A.Eala
L.Noskova to beat D.Parry
When Aryna Sabalenka takes to the court it will be two weeks since her bizarre loss at the French Open. Shecould not have asked for a better opponent given Alexandrova's awful season to date. This should be one way traffic. Elise Mertens beat Bartunkova in Australia and looked good after one set in her first match. This is a step up for Bartunkova.
DTM recommends
A.Sabalenka to beat E.Alexandrova
E.Mertens to beat N.Bartunkova
The home wildcard player, Eva Lys has a qualifier to play this week. Alex Eala has drawn Donna Vekic which may turn out to be a lucky loser. With so many unknowns the only really certain match up after the draw was made is Madison Keys v Xinyu Wang. Keys is a good option here:) With the qualifying draw only finishing late on Monday night the main draw action has been in part delayed til Tuesday. Eva Lys will not have an easier draw at this event than playing Frech. A good solid professional but a player who lost to Zhang in qualifying and is not known for her grass court game. Noskova will also beat Zarazua today:)
DTM recommends
M.Keys to beat X.Wang
E.Lys to beat M.Frech
L.Noskova to beat R.Zarazua
Marketa Vondrousova had an amazing week last year to win this title. She defeated Xinyu Wang as well as Aryna Sabalenka. Sadly her injuries continue to keep her off the court so she is not playing. Aryna Sabalenka leads the star studded field and will be tough to beat. Even without Mirra Andreeva and Victoria Mboko, we have lots of the world's top 20 present. Aryna Sabalenka looks the most likely to come through the top half of the draw. She will be determined to win this week after her bizarre exit in Paris. The bottom half is surely where Elena Rybakina will make up for her poor showing in London. A repeat of the Australian Open final looks likely. But potentially an event too late, Aryna Sabalenka wins in Berlin:)
DTM recommends
A.Sabalenka to win the title
Katerina Siniakova needs a good run in Berlin to secure a seeding at Wimbledon. She is the number 2 seed in the qualifying behind XInyu Wang who despite being runner up last year looks unlikely to repeat her deep run. She is #1 seed in the qualifying draw.
