WTA1000 Toronto August 2nd to 13th

Final

Final

Final

Iga Swiatek seems destined to win her first title in 2026. She has been trending in the right direction and should overcome Rybakina in this final.

DTM recommends

I.Swaitek to beat E.Rybakina

The unpredictability of the WTA tour is its strength at present. Every event seems to throw up a different winner. Iga Swiatek could well be due but the same can be said of Coco Gauff. Given her H2H record over the Polish player an American victory seems the best option in Toronto.

DTM recommends

I.Swaitek to beat E.Svitolina

C.Gauff to beat E.Rybakina

Round 4 cont.

Ekaterina ALexandrova is a difficult player to catch right but she will be feeling great in Toronto having beaten Sabalenka. At the prices 2/1 is great value for her to beat Svitolina. Last week in Washington Svitolina was not playing at her very best. Her win over an under played and physically struggling Anisimova is nowhere near as strong as Alexandrova. The Russian is advised to get through in this match.

DTM recommends

E.Alexandrova to beat E.Svitolina

Round 4 cont.

Round 4 cont.

The WTA keeps on providing different winners and this was evidenced again overnight as Alexandrova (with very little form this year ) overcoming Aryna Sabalenka. The bottom half matches could also provide a few more shocks with Alina Korneeva taking on Coco Gauff. Gauff will have to turn up and be very solid to win this match. Every match could go either way. Alex Eala is handling all the attention so well as she continues on her winning run here in Toronto. Belinda Bencic will be a tough opponent especially after the demands on Eala's body. I would not like to say Alex cannot win but clearly her run will end at some point. Osaka against Fernandez is another exciting match that the Canadian could win especially if Osaka mis fires? A few 3 set matches seems very likely.

DTM recommends

B.Bencic to beat A.Eala

C.Gauff to beat A.Korneeva

Osaka v Fernandez to be 3 sets

Round 4

Round 4 cont.

Round 3 cont.

For Iga Swaitek a potential win over Marta Kostyuk in the 4th round of a WTA 1000 event might not seem that significant but at this moment in her career it would be significant. It would provide her with belief that she can rise back up the rankings. Kostyuk has had her number recently. Can Iga finally turn things round and claim a much needed big win over a player who has been consistently winning matches since the start of the clay season. It is a very interesting match up that could go either way?

DTM recommends

I.Swaitek to beat M.Kostyuk

Round 3 cont.

Round 4 cont.

Round 3 cont.

It's the bottom half's turn and Alex Eala is going for a seventh straight win as she takes on Caty McNally. The American may provide some challenges under fast conditions. Alex will need to be at her best to defeat her and inevitably at some point her winning run will come to an end. A lot will depend on how well the American copes under the lights and big biased crowd. A close match looks likely and 3 sets is very possible. Alex has to be considered the favourite but this match up could be a lot trickier than many are considering!

Elsewhere Mirra Anfreeva is looking very good. She may well reach the final this week. She should certainly beat Leylah Fernandez.

DTM recommends

A.Eala v C.McNally - match to be 3 sets

M.Andreeva to beat L.Fernandez

Round 3

Round 3

Round 3

Madison Keys has played a little bit more tennis than Marta Kostyuk recently and these faster conditions could also suit the American. This match could be close but the American is capable of beating anyone on her day.

DTM recommends

M.Keys to beat M.Kostyuk

Tennis player raising fist in determination.

Round 2

Round 3

Round 3

The bottom half takes to the court with a few big names back on court for the first time since Wimbledon. Elena Rybakina will be under the spotlight to see if she can return to the form she showed in Australia. She has a good test first up against Kasatkina. Many of the seeds should progress but Taylor Townsend is a good option for an upset against Bouzkova. She has a big serve and in conditions to suit could prove significant.

DTM recommends

A.Eala to beat A.Parks

J.Pegula to beat M.Frech

E.Rybakina to beat D.Kasatkina

E.Mertens to beat A.Bondar

T.Townsend to beat M.Bouzkova

L.Noskova to beat C.McNally

Tennis player in action, focused expression.

Round 2

Round 3

Round 2

The seeds are on court from this round onwards. For some their return to the court has been a long wait. Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka have not played for a month after losing early in Wimbledon. Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff have also had maximum rest so it will be interesting to see which of the top 10 play the best in Toronto. Mirra Andreeva and Linda Noskova will have a target on them more than ever before having won their first grand slam titles in 2026. And of course Alex Eala is the most recent winner on tour who is flying across with just 24 hours to spare before she plays Alycia Parks in her first match.

On Tuesday Ruse looks a good option to beat Potapova especially after her good first round win against Peyton Stearns.

DTM recommends

E.Ruse to beat A.Potapova

Tennis player showing a fist pump during a match.

Round 2

Shuai Zhang likes fast hard courts unlike Yulia Putintseva. On this surface the Chinese player should win. Elsewhere Kayla Day is favoured to beat Diane Parry.  Bianca Andreescu has serious form on hard courts and despite battling injuries since her US Open triumph must be a sensible option against Bartunkova:)

DTM recommends

 S.Zhang to beat Y.Putintseva

K.Day to beat D.Parry

B.Andreescu to beat N.Bartunkova

Smiling woman holding a silver trophy.

The WTA tour is more and more wide open the longer this season goes on. Anyone in good form seemingly believes they can win. After Mirra Andreeva winning in Paris and Linda Noskova winning Wimbledon all the youngsters on tour are feeling like their turn is next. Alex Eala has proved that recently beating all that have got in her way. Both Sabalenka and Rybakina need to reassert themselves on the court. Maybe this event will prove their launch pad to the form of earlier in the season. But as with Iga Swiatek they all have questions to answer.

Given her early exit at Wimbledon, Mirra Andreeva is a prudent choice to win this week. She is well rested whilst also being in great form. Her loss to Krejcikova was more due to her opponent's level and the surface than any dip from Andreeva. She will be tough to beat.

DTM recommends

M.Andreeva to win inn Toronto
