It looks possible that we are heading for another win for the world #1 Aryna Sabalenka at the #MMOPEN ? She looks as good as ever and continues to benefit from being fresher than most. With Rybakina losing the bottom half is wide open. Marta Kostyuk has such a good mentality on court when she is on a run of wins that it would be no surprise if she is the player to upset the form book. She looks likely to out battle Linda Noskova in their last 8 clash. Aryna Sabalenka looks good to get past Hailey Baptiste who came through t a tough 3 set match with Bencic and Leylah Fernandez must be worth an interest against an out of sorts Andreeva who was troubled by Bondar. Fernandez is a step up at present.
DTM recommends
M.Kostyuk to beat L.Noskova
A.Sabalenka to beat H.Baptiste
L.Fernandez to beat M.Andreeva

Today the last 16 matches see everyone taking to the court. Leylah Fernandez is on a roll and should prevail over Ann Li. Belinda Bencic has played well at this event and she should overcome Baptitste. Marta Kostyuk is slowly becoming the player she threatened to become as the world's best junior. She looks likely to go much further this week.
DTM recommends
L.Fernandez to beat A.Li
B.Bencic to beat H.Baptiste
M.Kostyuk to beat C.McNally

The past two days have seen DTM hit good form with all his picks coming good :)
DTM recommends
Z.Sonmez to beat S.Sierra
E.Mertens to beat K.Pliskova

She is a good option to beat Kalinina who has not played at the higher level for a while. Leylah Fernandez played well in Stuttgart and rediscovered some form in pushing Rybakina to within one point of defeat. Her match with Jovic looks like one she will be up for. This could go either way but a 3 set outcome or even a Fernandez win is possible ?
Wins for Iga Świątek and Arena Sabalenka look very likely as well:)
DTM recommends
N.Osaka to beat A.Kalinina
L.Fernandez v I.Jovic - 3 set outcome
I.Swiatek to beat A.Li VOID
A.Sabalenka to beat J.Cristian

Elise Mertens has a tremendous record against players ranked below her. She will be a far tougher prospect for Alex Eala than her first opponent in Madrid. A win for the Belgian is advised. Her doubles partner should do better against Bucsa. Zeynep Sonmez is in great form and should have beaten Fernandez last week. A win over Bucsa seems

Lois Boisson returns to action after a long period away from the game due to injury. She plays Peyton Stearns with the reward of playing Aryna Sabalenka awaiting the winner. Paula Badosa has had a rough few weeks but she looked good in getting to the winning line against Eva Lys only to stumble. She will beat Julia Grabher. Katie Boulter has played a few matches already this season on clay and she should be more proven on the surface than Taylor Townsend this week. DTM expects Dayana Yastremska to be too solid for Solana Sierra as well.
DTM recommends
P.Badosa to beat J.Grabher
K.Boulter to beat T.Townsend
D.Yastremska to beat S.Sierra

Another big event arrives for the WTA tour. This time outside on the red clay of Madrid. After nearly another month away, Aryna Sabalenka returns to action looking to respond to Elena Rybakina's win in Stuttgart. If her 2026 form continues in the same way, it is hard to see anyone in her top half stopping her. She likes Madrid and has a good record here. The defending champion looks destined to reach the final for the 4th year running. Only Elina Svitolina and possibly Mirra Andreeva are in any kind of form. The other top 10 players are all struggling. Iga Swiatek and Jasmine Paolini will both be hoping for better form. In the bottom half Elena Rybakina has Gauff, Mboko, Pegula, Anisimova and even Zheng to worry about. Her half seems very much harder to predict. Irrespective of who makes the final from the bottom half it is an event to stick with proven form and for once the favourite in Aryna to win:)
DTM recommends
A.Sabalenka to win the event
